Forgotten Toybox - handmade blank journals with artistic covers, or copper plate covers...also jewelry and more

About the books

Debb specializes in multimedia exposed-spine, coptic stitch books, which lends an unusual decorative feature to her journals. This style of binding is also very functional, as it allows the journal to lay flat when open, which makes it easier to write or sketch on the entire page. (Plus, she just digs how it looks.)

Her books are high-quality, inside and out. In the traditional paper books, covers are surfaced with unusual papers (some hand-stamped or designed), and the blank paper used for the inside is generally either 100% heavy cotton watermarked writing paper, or acid-free Stonehenge printmaker's paper, suitable for a variety of media. In some books the paper has been hand torn to add that extra special touch.

Most of the covers are pieces of art unto themselves. Some feature prints of Debb's pastel work; others are assemblages of found objects, gears, keys, and other odd and ususual things. Sometimes you'll find extra special handmade elements, such as fused glass, soldered charms, or stained glass.

Her newest line of books are made with 18 gauge etched copper covers, which are acid-etched with a collage of found images and embellished by hand. The books are then hand finished and coated to preserve the applied patina. They contain the same high quality paper as her traditional paper journals. She also makes mini-versions of these which are designed to be book you can wear.
